If a bin has been left out on your street for 14 days or more after collection, it may be considered abandoned.
Before reporting it:
- check with your neighbours to see if the bin belongs to them
- take a photo of the bin if possible to help us identify it
This form should only be used to report residential bins, and cannot be used to report public litter bins. Please read our street care and cleaning page for more information on litter.
What Happens Next
Once you report the bin:
- we will contact the owner and ask them to retrieve it
- if the owner can’t be identified, we’ll write to nearby addresses
- a notice will be attached to the bin warning that it will be removed if not collected within 14 days
- if the bin is still there after 14 days, we will remove it
If your bin is mistakenly removed, you may need to request a new bin. This could include a replacement charge.
